Frequently Asked Questions...
How/where are Cornelia’s Cupcakes made?
All my cupcakes are handmade in my kitchen. I don’t use any industrial equipment whatsoever; all the cakes and icing are made in small batches with my own fair hands. It takes longer but I think it’s worth it.
Can you do me a special design/theme/colour?
Absolutely! I bake and decorate cakes fresh for every order, so custom decorations or themed selections are no problem. Just let me know your ideas.
What flavours do you offer?
A selection of flavours can be found here. It is impossible to list all flavours, if there is anything specific you have in mind, please let me know.
How long do your cupcakes keep for?
Because I don’t use any preservatives, my yummy cupcakes won’t keep as long as shop bought ones. They’ll stay super fresh for a day or two if properly stored in an airtight container. I always recommend eating them within 5 days of being baked.
How do I store my cakes
Store the cakes in cool, dry, hygienic conditions away from steam, moisture, humidity and sunlight. Unless your cakes contain cream, do not keep it in the fridge as it may dry out your cakes and decorations may ‘sweat’.
Tins have always been used for cake storage. Modern Tupperware, wonderful for sandwiches and leftover food, has a tendency to take on the scent of food that’s been kept inside it. Unless it’s brand new, choose a cake tin instead, which will keep out air and unwelcome smells. Your cake will then taste exactly as it did when it was first baked. For added security, wrap your cake in greaseproof paper before placing it inside the tin.
If your cake is a cream-filled sponge or a dramatic cheesecake, you could also use a glass cake dome: the glamorous way to store and serve! Keep this inside the fridge and if you’re worried about scent penetration, line the cake with paper before putting it in.
How far ahead to I need to order?
For cupcakes, at least 1 week’s notice, however if you have last minute need to order some home-made cupcakes, please get in touch and I’ll see what I can do. Intricate decor might need a bit longer to make and dry, as all these are hand-made. For special occasions please provide at least 2 weeks notice.
For large celebration cakes, I will require at least 2 weeks notice. I am always willing to help where I can, however I do get fully booked quite quick, the earlier you are able to confirm the more chance there is that I can fulfil your order.
Do you offer trade prices?
Yes I do offer trade price, please send me an enquiry using the enquiry form together with information about your business and I will be in touch.
Do you deliver?
You are always welcome to collect your cakes from my house but I do deliver within 10 miles of KT12 (Walton-on-Thames, Surrey) at a charge of £4.99. If you are outside the area, please contact me so I can see what I can do.
How do I place an order?
Simply complete the enquiry form here or phone with an idea of what you’d like and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
How do I pay for my order?
I accept cash or cheque on delivery. Alternatively I can invoice you through Paypal which means you can pay by credit or debit card. More than 50 cakes may require a 50% deposit.
Can I order a combination of different cupcakes?
Yes. You can order any combination of cupcakes when you make your order or if you just want a box of one flavour, that’s fine too!
Can you supply organic/wheat free/gluten free/dairy free cupcakes?
If you have any special dietary requests, please get in touch and I’ll see what I can do. If you need vegetarian-friendly cupcakes just let me know when ordering and I can avoid any decorations containing gelatine (pork-based). Although ultra-care is taken when working with nuts and nut-free cakes, the cakes are prepared in a kitchen where nuts are used and there may be traces of nuts on some equipment.
Do you have cupcake stands to hire?
Yes, I have a number of stands for hire (multi-use 7- and 9-tier acrylic wedding/party stands and wire cupcake stands for 13 and 23 cupcakes). Click here for more details.
